Description
A deliciously simple and satisfying beef stir fry with vibrant veggies that brings fresh Asian flavors to your dinner table.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
- 2 cups of mixed vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, snow peas)
- 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce (optional)
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (canola or sesame)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch (optional for thickening)
- 1 tablespoon of water (if using cornstarch)
- Cooked rice or noodles for serving
Instructions
- Begin by marinating your sliced beef in a bowl. Add the soy sauce and oyster sauce, if using. Toss until coated and let sit for about 10 minutes.
- Prep your vegetables while the beef marinates. Slice the bell peppers, chop the broccoli, and cut the carrots into thin strips.
- Heat a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil until shimmering.
- Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Let it sear for about 2 minutes without stirring, then stir occasionally until cooked through (about 3-4 more minutes). Remove from skillet and let it rest.
- Toss in the garlic and ginger into the same pan and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry over high heat for about 3-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the skillet, and if using cornstarch, mix it with water to create a slurry. Drizzle over the beef and veggies, stirring together for about an additional two minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve your beef stir fry hot over rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds or fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
For lighter alternatives, use lean cuts of beef, or substitute half the beef with mushrooms or tofu. Serve with a cucumber salad and green tea.
