  • Author: Julia
  • Total Time: 10 minutes (plus 4 hours freezing time)
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegan

Description

A refreshing, naturally sweet frozen beverage made with fresh watermelon, lime juice, and a touch of honey. Perfect for hot summer days and ready in just 5 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and frozen
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 12 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
  • 1/4 cup cold water or coconut water
  • 68 fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Cut fresh watermelon into cubes, remove all seeds and rind, then spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. 2. Add frozen watermelon chunks to a high-powered blender along with lime juice, sweetener, and cold water.
  3. 3. Start blending on low speed to break down the frozen pieces, then gradually increase to high speed.
  4. 4. Blend for 30-60 seconds until smooth and slushy, using a tamper to push ingredients toward the blades if needed.
  5. 5. If the mixture is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  6. 6. Pour immediately into tall glasses and garnish with fresh mint leaves and watermelon wedges if desired.
  7. 7. Serve right away with straws for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

Best consumed immediately after blending. Can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks, but will need to be reblended before serving. The sweetness level can be adjusted based on your watermelon’s natural sweetness.
