Description
Indulge in a bakery-style strawberry cream cheese danish with flaky puff pastry, creamy cheese filling, and sweet, fresh strawberries. Perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
4 oz (115 g) cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon zest (optional)
6–8 fresh strawberries, thinly sliced
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tsp milk (for egg wash)
Honey or powdered sugar for glaze (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
In a bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until smooth.
Place cream cheese mixture in the center of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border.
Arrange sliced strawberries over the cream cheese.
Fold edges slightly over the filling or create a decorative lattice.
Whisk egg and milk, then brush pastry edges for a golden finish.
Bake 20–25 minutes, until pastry is puffed and golden.
Optional: Brush strawberries lightly with honey or dust with powdered sugar after baking.
Cool 10–15 minutes, then serve warm.
Notes
Keep dough chilled for maximum flakiness.
Pat strawberries dry to avoid a soggy bottom.
Experiment with mixed berries or nuts for variations.
