Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken:

    • Pound chicken evenly to about ½ inch thickness for consistent cooking.

    • Set up a breading station: flour, beaten eggs, and crushed pretzels.

    • Season flour with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

    • Dredge chicken in flour, dip in eggs, then coat thoroughly with crushed pretzels.

  • Cook the Chicken:

    • Baking Option: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), place chicken on parchment-lined baking sheet, lightly spray with oil, and bake 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.

    • Pan-Frying Option: Heat 2–3 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.

    • Air-Frying Option: Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray chicken with oil and cook 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway.

  • Prepare Cheddar Mustard Sauce:

    • Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat.

    • Whisk in Dijon mustard and milk/cream.

    • Gradually add shredded cheddar, stirring until melted and smooth.

    • Season with salt, pepper, and optional paprika or cayenne. Keep warm.

  • Serve:

    • Place chicken on a plate and drizzle or serve with cheddar mustard sauce on the side.

    • Pair with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a crisp salad for a complete meal.
