Description
Festive no-bake treats featuring crushed Oreos mixed with cream cheese, coated in red, white, and blue chocolate for the perfect patriotic dessert
Ingredients
Scale
- 36 Oreo cookies (regular) – 1 package
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened – 1 package
- 16 oz white chocolate chips or almond bark
- 8 oz red candy melts
- 8 oz blue candy melts
- 1–2 tablespoons vegetable shortening (optional)
- Patriotic sprinkles – as desired
Instructions
- 1. Crush Oreo cookies in a food processor until they resemble fine crumbs, then transfer to a large mixing bowl.
- 2. Add softened cream cheese to the crushed cookies and mix with an electric mixer or sturdy spoon until thoroughly combined and uniform in texture.
- 3. Refrigerate the mixture for 30 minutes to 1 hour until firm enough to handle easily.
- 4. Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion the mixture and roll into 1-inch balls between your palms.
- 5. Place rolled balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for another 30 minutes or freeze for 15 minutes until very firm.
- 6. Melt white chocolate, red candy melts, and blue candy melts separately in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring between each heating.
- 7. Add vegetable shortening to any coating that seems too thick, stirring until smooth and pourable.
- 8. Dip each chilled ball into your choice of colored coating using a fork or dipping tool, tapping off excess against the bowl’s edge.
- 9. Place coated balls on parchment paper and immediately add patriotic sprinkles or drizzle with contrasting colors before coating sets.
- 10. Allow all balls to set completely at room temperature or refrigerate for 15 minutes to speed up the process.
- 11. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. These balls freeze beautifully for up to 3 months. Let refrigerated balls sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving for best flavor and texture. Work in batches to keep uncoated balls chilled while decorating others.
