Description
Fluffy, sweet, and perfectly golden, this Hawaiian Roll French Toast is the ultimate breakfast treat. Using soft, pillowy Hawaiian rolls instead of regular bread makes every bite tender and slightly sweet, while a simple custard mixture adds richness. Serve with fresh berries, maple syrup, or a dusting of powdered sugar for a brunch-worthy dish that’s quick to prepare yet indulgent enough to impress family and friends.
Ingredients
8 Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half
4 large eggs
1 cup milk (or almond milk for a lighter option)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp butter or ghee for cooking
Optional toppings: maple syrup, honey, powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
Preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter or ghee.
Dip each Hawaiian roll half into the custard mixture for 2–3 seconds per side, letting excess drip off.
Place rolls on the skillet and cook 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and slightly crisp.
Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining rolls.
Serve warm, topped with your choice of syrup, fresh berries, powdered sugar, or whipped cream.
Notes
For extra indulgence, stuff the rolls with cream cheese, Nutella, or fruit before dipping in custard.
Slightly stale rolls soak evenly without falling apart, ensuring perfect texture.
To make ahead, soak the rolls in custard overnight and cook in the morning for a quick, effortless breakfast.
