Description

A creamy, smoky, and indulgent mac and cheese made with Gouda and cheddar for the ultimate comfort food experience.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (or cavatappi)

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • 2 cups whole milk

  • 1 cup cream (optional for richness)

  • 2 cups shredded Gouda cheese (young or smoked)

  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese

  • Salt, pepper, paprika to taste

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for baked version)


Instructions

  • Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain.

  • In a saucepan, melt butter. Whisk in flour to make a roux.

  • Slowly add milk and cream, whisking until smooth.

  • Add cheeses a handful at a time until melted into a creamy sauce.

  • Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.

  • Stir pasta into sauce.

  • For baked version: pour into casserole, top with breadcrumbs + cheese, bake at 375°F for 20 minutes until golden.
