1 ½ cups warm water (105–110°F)
2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
4 tbsp melted butter (plus extra for brushing)
¼ cup baking soda (for boiling water)
½ cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon coating)
2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
Activate yeast: Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Prepare dough: Mix in flour, salt, and melted butter. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
Shape pretzels: Divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll into ropes and form classic pretzel shapes.
Boil: Bring water and baking soda to a boil. Boil pretzels 20–30 seconds.
Bake: Place pretzels on a lined baking sheet. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden.
Coat: Brush warm pretzels with melted butter. Mix cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle generously over each pretzel.
