Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ cups warm water (105–110°F)

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 4 tbsp melted butter (plus extra for brushing)

  • ¼ cup baking soda (for boiling water)

  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon coating)

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Activate yeast: Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  • Prepare dough: Mix in flour, salt, and melted butter. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.

  • Shape pretzels: Divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll into ropes and form classic pretzel shapes.

  • Boil: Bring water and baking soda to a boil. Boil pretzels 20–30 seconds.

  • Bake: Place pretzels on a lined baking sheet. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden.
