A creamy, comforting chicken casserole topped with fluffy cheddar biscuits, perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
4 tbsp butter, divided
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Salt & pepper to taste
2 cups biscuit mix
2/3 cup milk
½ cup additional shredded cheddar for topping
Instructions
Melt 2 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken until browned but not fully cooked.
Sprinkle flour over chicken and stir to coat. Gradually add chicken broth and heavy cream, whisking constantly. Simmer until thickened and chicken is cooked. Stir in shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer chicken mixture to a greased 9×13-inch dish.
In a medium bowl, mix biscuit mix, milk, and 2 tbsp melted butter. Drop spoonfuls over the chicken mixture. Sprinkle remaining cheddar on top.
Bake 20–25 minutes until biscuits are golden. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
