Ingredients
9 cups Rice Chex cereal
1 cup caramel chips
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/4 cup apple cider or freeze-dried apples (chopped)
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Cereal: Place the Rice Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl, being careful not to crush it.
Melt the Chips: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the caramel chips and white chocolate chips together. Do so in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and creamy.
Coat the Cereal: Pour the melted caramel and white chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently stir to coat the cereal evenly.
Add Apple Flavor: If using apple cider, add it now and stir to combine. If using freeze-dried apples, chop them into small pieces and mix them in.
Powdered Sugar Coating: Pour the coated cereal into a large zip-top bag or container. Add the powdered sugar and cinnamon (if using). Shake gently until all the cereal is coated with the sweet, powdery coating.
Cool and Store: Allow the puppy chow to cool completely before serving. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months.
