Blueberry Compote Recipe

  • Author: lacen tagul

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries

¼ cup water

¼ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Optional: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract or a pinch of cinnamon for added flavor

Instructions

Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries, water, and sugar.

Cook: Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Simmer: Let it simmer for about 10–15 minutes, or until the blueberries have burst and the mixture has thickened slightly.

Add Lemon Juice: Stir in the lemon juice and any optional flavorings like vanilla extract or cinnamon.

Cool: Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. The compote will continue to thicken as it cools.

Notes

Store the cooled blueberry compote in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
